Rose Wreath with Lindy

Monday, November 30th, 2009

null
i will be showing you how to make a rose wreath
Credit goes Tonya Dirk
I used double sided paper for this not too think though or it will be harder to cut
First off cut 3 squares i used 3″ (the smaller rose) 4″ 5″ and 6″
Fold the first square into a triangle and another triangle and another triangle (first pic)
Now cut the top off into a cone shape and snip a small bit off the bottom.
unfold your flower and start cutting the petals
taking the first flower cut 2 petals off, 2nd flower cut 3 petals, 3rd flower cut in half and on one of the half flowers cut one petal
so your petals should look like the 3rd image.
I inked the edges, now taking the larger flower that has 6 petals glue together to make the rose and do this to all except the ones that have one petal and two petals.
when dry take a tooth pick and roll the top edge of all, now roll the 1& 2 petals like a bud.
Now place and glue all the flowers inside each other
and presto your rose is completed.

3D Flowers

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

What a trend these have become with countless ways to make them.

In this simple class I will show you how to make a basic flower using punches and then from cutting paper to achieve the ultimate.

What you will need for the 1st flower is the following:-

Retro Daisy Punches in Large

Retro Daisy Punches in Medium

2 scraps of Pattern Paper in different colour?s

Foam Mounting Tape small Piece

Step 1

Take a piece of pattern paper and the large punch and punch a daisy then repeat this process with the medium punch

Step 2

Take each daisy and fold each petal in half

Step 3

Take the daisies and start to curl the petal tips up and to the left and right with your fingertips, remember Mother Nature isn?t perfect

Step 4

Place the large daisy on your mat and place a small square of foam mounting tape in the center and place the medium one on top of this and lightly press together

Step 5

You can now place some Bling in the center if you want a brad you will have to do this before you place it on top of the larger flower

Now if you want to achieve a really stunning flower you will need to look for a pattern paper with repeated flowers you can use in the example below I have used an Urban Lily paper and cut the flowers out including down the flowers towards the center.

I then used a pencil to curl the flowers to achieve the desired curl.

When putting it together I then added other types of fabric flowers to add depth and dimension you can also use Kindy Glitz or stickles for an added zing.

Below are some of my Lo?s using this method

Australia?s own Carole Jansen is the master of this technique I have included a couple of LO?s that I have done of Carole?s. Notice in the Carefree LO how she has used acetate flowers as well as ? fabric flowers and hand stitching to ad depth.

Distress Inks with Lindy

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Distress inks come in various colours, i have only used a couple as samples.
Use a dauber or a thick sponge to ink with, daubers work best i find.
The important step to remember if you want a light distress start from the outside going in.
If you want a heavier colour start at the middle and go out.
try first on some scrap paper.
The first three images i have distressed some white flowers each different effects
colours used are Tattered Rose dried Marigold and Broken China .

These can be purchased in the shop along with many other colours visit the shop click here

On the card I used the Heidi Swapp Butterfly Mask, inked with Broken China on the outside and tattered Rose towards the centre.
I stamped (clear arcylic stamps) with dried marigold and Frayed Burlap.

On the layout (we did similar in the Heidi Swapp Class) I started with the heart mask and layered the flower mark and the scroll mask and inked over each one
the effect is very cool.? I only had a light application of ink on the dauber each time, just keep inking to the desired effect.

Give this a try, great fun and very effective.
