Silver Leafing with Lindy

With Christmas fast approaching us all, I thought this technique may come in handy for making your cards and layouts.

Materials used for Technique
Scraplets Chipboard word and shape
Silver Leaf Sheet
Glitter (Red & White)
White card.
Zig Fine Point Glue Pen
Dark colour Xmas Patterned Paper and/or dark colour plain cardstock (only need approx 6×6″ scrap)
Soft paint brush
Red paint
very small amt of white paint

materials

WARNING: The silver leaf is very fragile only touch a tiny piece at one time from the bag otherwise it will be wasted.

First off we will start with the Chipboard tree.

Step 1

Using your dark Xmas paper, trace around the chipboard tree and cut out and adhere to raw chipboard tree.

Step 2

Using the Zig glue pen go all around the edge of the tree so that it leaves a noticeable blue line, when it?s ready it will become clear and sticky.

As it starts to dry it will look like this.

Step 3

Attach the leaf a tiny bit at a time using a small paint brush.

Brush off any excess with brush, this excess you can use again on patches you have missed.

Step 5

Continue applying the leafing right around the edge of your tree until complete.

Now that we have finished the tree we will move on to the next chipboard word ?Believe?

Step 1

Paint your raw ??Believe? and Hat red, leaving the tip of the hat for the moment.

Step 2

Cut a piece of white card for the band of the hat and attach this in the space for the hat band. Then paint your hat tip (star) white.

Step 3

Using the Zig Glue pen, go right around the B and the hat but NOT the star. When the glue becomes clear and sticky it?s time to apply the leaf (same as we did for the tree). Use bits of leaf all around where the glue is and brush off and use the leftovers to patch any holes.

Step 4

Using Diamond Glaze or similar, glue the whole inside of the white band of the hat.

Step 5

Over a piece of paper, sprinkle your white glitter inside the band and completely fill. Tap off any excess.

Step 6

Apply diamond glaze or similar to the star of the hat, now using the left over glitter on your paper, tap so it all gathers into the middle, turn your chipboard over and dip the hat tip into the glitter for good coverage. Allow to completely dry.

Step 7

When completely dry apply diamond glaze or similar glue to the red section of the hat in the same manner as before and sprinkle with red glitter to cover completely. Set aside to dry.

Step 8

Apply diamond glaze or similar glue to the ?B? and ?elieve? and allow to dry. You may want to use glitter on these too, feel free to do so.

Once dry, you should have a lovely glossy ?Believe? with a sparkly hat.
