Paper and Wire Vines – make your own!
Monday, August 17th, 2009We all love the ones you can buy, but they are expensive, and make for expensive layouts so today I’m going to show you how to make your own
- You will need
- Florist wire the thin stuff
- Lunch bags or tissue
- Die or teabags
- Mod podge
- Leaves on wire
- Flowers.
1. rip your tissue paper of lunch bags into 2 inch strips. I used paper lunch bag because they are a bit stronger when you put them in the die.
2. Mix up a die solution according to your dies instructions, or place a couple of teabags in a tray with hot water.
3. Put your paper strips into the water and colour them.. it should not take long
4. Lay them out flat to dry ..or if your impatient like me dry them with a heat gun
5. Take a piece of your paper and coat one side with Mod podge.
6. Wrap the paper around the wire trying to keep it as tight as possible.
7. Once you have the desired thickness rip the paper away and start on the next section.
8. Create different branches for you stem, and keep adding till you are happy with how it looks.
9. Curl the tops of the branches around an Awl, to get them curly
10. Now to add the leaves, you can either lay the wire down the stem and add some more paper to cover the leaf wife, or you can just wrap the wire around the stem like I did.
11. Keep adding leaves till you are happy with the look then do the same for the flowers
12. Hey presto your own Wire vine and for a fraction of the cost.
